I shot some hockey when I first got to the Quad-Cities and for the most part I was rather underwhelmed. All my sports stuff seemed rather unremarkable and boring. One night a couple of weeks ago I was shooting the local IHL team the Mallards and I realized I wasn't going to get a good shot from behind the goal. So I looked around the rink until I found a spot I liked. Within one period I had one or two images I was happy with. So now I actually have a few sports images to show off. I never like my sports stuff so for any of it to leave the archive is somewhat remarkable. These are a loose edit of just stuff that has run in the past couple of games I've shot.

Friday night I got to shoot an MMA cage match fight. Here in the Quad-Cities MMA is a pretty big deal since Pat Militech is from the area and runs a gym. I spent my evening watching guys beat each other to a bloody pulp which was rather interesting, hopefully I'll get to shoot the 2 upcoming matches in April.

From an assignment at Bent River Brewery in Moline, Ill. I had high hopes for this assignment, I'd swung by the night before and was going to get a growler and glass. The bartender would let me use a glass or take one home saying it could break. So I go in today and am standing talking to the manager and the bartender says "That'll be $3.75." Manager stops and looks at her and says..."He doesn't have to pay for it." I was hoping to do it in a homemade studio in my apartment but instead I had to work there in the bar.

The view from outside the racquetball court during the 5th Annual Iowa State Wallyball Tournament in Eldridge on Saturday. The sport which got it's start in 1981 is similar to volleyball but lets players use the walls to bounce off of. Steven Fuhrman of Minneapolis one of the Minnesota founders of the sport said that clubs around the country have slightly different rules and he is working to codify the rules to be standard for the whole sport.
