April, 2008 Archives

Coach David Elson stands quietly on the field after losing to Ball State in Indiana. This was the first time I'd used a Canon 5d with a 24mm 1.4. I should have shot this at f8 or something higher than 1.4, but it was fun while it lasted.

A Walterboro city firefighter talks to the county fire chief during a house fire.

A violionist plays during a Saturday night bluegrass gathering called the Pickin' Parlor. When my editor gave me this assignment his instructions were, “Drive down Vista road make a left at the guitar.” I love small towns where “turn left at the guitar” is enough in the way of directions.

From a series on Station 19 in Colleton county. This was a response to the death of the Charleston 9, we were within 50 miles of Charleston and the death of the firefighters directly affected the Colleton area. Unfortunately this photo is from the days when my archiving system was not so good and I don't have any names.
